What's in a Name

Ok, so why “Just Groups”? Well, it is a reminder really. It seems as though some blogs or other media posting formats that we follow in this digital landscape can go all over the place and quickly lose their focus. So the title is just a reminder for us to… Dance with the one that brung you, so to speak.

At this point, may I be so bold as to say, “Small Groups is something we do well at Tiffany Fellowship Church”. Then again, the true essence of small groups is relationship and that is what God designed us for anyway right? So by all rights, everyone should be able to do small groups well!

As we all know, not all relationships go well, all of the time. They take effort from everyone involved to stay connected, keep the line of communication open, and remain steadfast to see it bear fruit. Great relationships are also flexible, open to change, and are willing to evolve as we are impacted by others.

It should also be noted that our human efforts and the group structure we have applied to our current culture can only take us so far. A successful model of group life was laid out for us in Scripture when Jesus met with and invested in His disciples, then the Holy Spirit helped shape the early Church through those that remained faithful. In this, we must be ever mindful that our modern day model must serve the people in relationship, spiritual growth, and love, and not just having the people serving another program.

So let’s take the potential that Just Groups provides and point each other to the ongoing joy that can be found in becoming more Christ-like in our daily lives. As we enjoy relationship with other believers, let us do this with all of our hearts, and be aware of the great avenue we have to bring others into the same saving grace knowledge of Jesus in the community we enjoy.
